Summer Workouts with Coach O'Brien
This is a summer running program for those runners entering 6th and 7th grade. The goal of the program is for each new athlete to run 24 plus miles per week after this 10-week program. Each new week begins with Sunday and ends on Saturday. The program is designed to start off easy and gradually increase the number of days running and the mileage throughout the summer.
Before you start:
1. Check with your parents before beginning this program.
2. The running is Long, Slow Distance.
3. Be as faithful to the program as possible.
4. Keep a log of your summer mileage. This allows you to keep track of your progress.
5. Make sure to have proper running sneakers.
6. Be careful and have fun!
7. Add a long run once a week.
